A letter from Fr Harry

June 2015

This brings you warm greetings and an expression of gratitude from Yuvajyothi Children’s Home!

We wish to give you some news about the life in Yuvajyothi. Yuvajyothi has a total of 49 children under its care of whom 38 boys live in Yuvajyothi, 7 girls live in girls’ boarding and other four boys live with their families. The home has 3 priests, 3 social workers and a cook in order to   give the children a conducive atmosphere for a dignified living.

The academic year of all the children ended in the second week of April. All of them have passed their respective classes with good grades with four boys standing first in their respective classes. All of them have been promoted to the higher classes.

In the third week of April, 30 boys participated in a three days ‘art of living camp’ organized by the Art of Living Foundation in Nagpur. The camp focused on some aspects of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing with wide-range of fun filled activities.

For three weeks the children underwent a well planned personal development oriented participative summer program. The summer program included meditation, athletic training, literacy classes, painting, dance classes, team building games and skill building activities. The children showed keen interest in all the activities. All the children have been registered with an organization for sports training.

The day of the children began with athletic training. After breakfast they had literacy classes/tuitions followed by painting, dance and other skill building activities. Before noon they were led into a Buddhist form of meditation known as vipasana by an external resource person. Post lunch, after a good rest they played team building games and involved in other skill building activities. In intervals they also played indoor games. They loved watching programs on a large television sponsored by Dare2Dream Foundation Inc. Australia. Some of the children will be visiting their relatives in the coming weeks which they are eagerly waiting for.

We wish to thank you sincerely for being partners in helping these children to transform into beautiful human beings. May God bless you, your family and friends.
